Finned Jellyfish Sudoku — Expert Fish with a Fin

Almost a Jellyfish but an extra cell or two called Fin Cells that break the 4x4 pattern.

How it works

Find the first Column

This Column has a . Digit 4 appears in two or three cells.

Find another matching Column

This Column also has 4 in two cells, and in the same Rows.

Find a third matching Column

This Column lines up too, but it already has an extra 4 candidate.

Find the fourth matching Column

This Column lines up too.All four Columns share the same four Rows.

Almost a Jellyfish

All the cells line up across four Columns and four Rows, just like a normal Jellyfish.

Spot the Fin

These Columns are almost a Jellyfish.But the Fin cell has no connection to the other Columns.

Note

This presense of the Fin cell reduces the number of eliminations we can make.

Eliminations must see the Fin

In a normal Jellyfish, we can eliminate other 4's in the shared rows.A Finned Jellyfish is restricted to only cells that share a with the Fin.

Eliminate in the Fin box

We can safely remove 4 on shared Rows but only within the Fin .
